Before finding Empowered Living Choices, our participant was “suffering with severe depression, near paralysis, constant anxiety, and energy crashes.” Multiple medical diagnoses, including chronic fatigue syndrome and functional neurological disorder, made day-to-day life incredibly difficult. The situation was made worse by unsuitable accommodation and a service provider who did not prioritize the participant’s quality of life.

For both the participant and their devoted mother, every day felt like a losing battle. Describing this period as “isolation” barely scratches the surface of the fear, frustration, and hopelessness they experienced.

With the help of a caring friend, the participant connected with Courtney Scott—founder of ELC. What followed was a “life-changing phone call” and an immediate sense of relief and renewed hope.

  • Finding the Right Accommodation

    ELC specializes in suitable and adaptable living options, including Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Medium-Term Accommodation. Courtney and the team worked tirelessly to secure a “million-dollar medium-term accommodation” that catered to the participant’s complex needs. This new living space finally allowed them to leave their bedroom safely.

  • Building a Caring Support Team

    From day one, ELC’s focus on comprehensive care meant assembling “a team of wonderful carers” who understood the participant’s medical history and personal goals. Led by ELC’s nursing oversight, our staff was trained to provide specialized care and closely monitor signs of improvement or concern.

  • Coordinating Essential Medical Services

    One of the participant’s major obstacles was lack of medical follow-up due to mobility constraints. ELC found “a GP who could visit the home”—a critical step in stabilizing the participant’s health and ensuring ongoing medical support.

  • Embracing a Holistic Model

    ELC’s holistic approach integrates mental and emotional well-being alongside medical and social needs. By offering unwavering emotional support, consistent communication, and advanced recording systems to track progress, Courtney and her team created a reliable environment that uplifted both the participant and their family.
